Meliora Service Dogs now approved by the Government of Alberta

Redcliff veteran helping others regain livelihood through Service Dog Training.

Several service dogs were on-site at Kingston Transit training with their owners to become familiar with the ramp, noises of the bus, exiting the rear door and sitting under seats in the priority seating area.

The Legion in Redcliff Alberta has entered into an agreement with Meliora Service Dogs to help train Service Dogs fo Veterans.

The cumulative trauma of four deployments, two in Bosnia and two in Afghanistan, ended up being too much for special forces veteran Marc Lapointe. He found himself back home in 2007, crying “like a baby,” he says.....

On November 10, Dr. Colleen Dell, Professor and Research Chair of One Health & Wellness at University of Saskatchewan, and retired Captain Marc Lapointe of the Special Forces of the Canadian Armed Forces presented alongside AUDEAMUS service dog Sticker. Together they talked about the impacts of Animal-Assisted Interventions (AAIs), and the need to understand and measure these impacts both from the perspective of the human and the animal.
